Blog 13

What was your favorite poem?  My favorite Poem was probably "To a daughter leaving home" I really felt like I connected with this one and really felt like this poem was about me.
Your least favorite poem? Why? The poem I didn't really like was, "Not waving but Drowning" I didn't like this one beacause it was just confusing and on going.

What was your favorite short story? Your least favorite short story? Why?
My fovorite short story was a,"Good Man is hard to Find" because it had a lot of emotion in it and made you really think wether the chaaracters were infact "good or bad".
My least favorite short story was "An old man with enormous wings"it just wasn't very interesting to me I didn't like how it was written.
Should next semester's ENGL150 students read Death of a Salesman? I personally didn't really like this play, it seemed a little to "crazy".  I felt like it just had so much going on that it made it hard to concentrate or to be really interested in it at that. The film and book wasn't really interesting to me at all.

How did you feel about watching Hollywood versions of Bartleby and Death of a Salesman? Is there utility in seeing a visual version of something you're responsible to read?
I didn't really like either of those storys they were just very strange and once I saw them on film the acting was either frustrating or just too overwhelming. I think many people didn't read the play since the film was provided in class.
What was your favorite in-class activity? What was your least favorite in-class activity?
My favorite in-class activity would probably be when we studied for the second exam with the testing strips I think that helped a lot of us out. I also think that strategy should be used for all the tests.  My Least favorite was dicussing every poem or story we read in class.

You'll notice that I didn't have your small groups present (even though the syllabus claimed you would). Did you miss that? Would you have rather that whole-class discussions were led by students doing presentations? I think having the small group discussions were usually pretty awkward because not everyone would participate or didn't read the stories. I think talking as a class we had better input and more thoughts.
Finally, what are your feelings on the creative blog entries? Which entry did you enjoy most? Least?
My favorite blog entry was probably the first one because it gave us a chance to express ourselves in a poetic way, my least favorite was the Ode. I didn't really like the blogs that much, I felt like having blog assignments and P assignments was just a little too much. I think that only one of these methods should be used. It was kind of a pain to do the blogs.

Grandpa willy

Dear son,
I wanna tell you more about your grandpa Willy. It's important for me that you know and that you understand what a great man he was. I also want us to have a better relationship then what we had from time to time. You see your grandpa Worked very hard for all of us he was the best salesman out there he had such determination and all the qualities needed for the job. He always motivated me back in the day to become the best football player out there! He would get the whole family excited and let everyone know that biff was his son and boy oh boy was he so proud of me!!
But when I didn't become the star football player he so longed me to be things change I disappointed him he began to get old and no able to take care of himself or ma properly..this is where happy and I stepped in an turned our lives around and I know now I've made him proud. Son I don't ever want to let you down and this is why I want you to know everything me pa went through so me and you can have that great relationship me and my dad once had.

Linda's Diary

August 21, 1934

Oh today has just been marvelous! the boys really seem to be getting far in life they have been of such help to Willy and I. I know Willy is so proud of Biff on how far he has come in football and Happy is doing so well in his job, it warms my heart to see all my men so happy. Now if only Willy would get the recognition he desrves for all his years of service, oh lord if only it came as easy as it was for Ben. I love Willy so much and I just know he deserves some appreciation.

May 6, 1949

Tonight was another struggle to getting Willy into bed, the boys always try and help but I fear they only make things worse. We aren't getting any yonger and neither are these boys of ours, oh i just don't know where we went wrong with them. Willy's constantly talk about he is so dissapointed on them and that just tares my heart right out. He's right though these boys need to grow up and make a life for themselves I told them tonight that they can't always expect to come home, they need to make their own home. To top it all off I keep reciveing bills after bills after bills! I don't know how things got so bad so fast but I can only hope my sons take the next step towards the right direction.

Dialogue post 9

Young life

The night wasn't getting younger and  neither was she, she began by putting on her coral pink blush followed by what seemed to be 10 lbs of mascara on her thin eyelashes.
I saw her franticly change her outfits as if she were going to a prom and everything had to be perfect down the very last detail.
"I can't wait to get drunk tonight! "
"It's going to be so much fun I just can't wait to take all those Jell-O shots!"
Disgusted by the thought of taking a Jell-O shot  I said to her, "ugh please don't remind me"
She began to laugh and dance without a care in the world
She had plans tonight and she would have a damn good time, there's no doubt about that
Life is good and that night seemed to be carefree, it was Friday and what can I say she was free as can be.

Howell Imitation

I saw a generation of babies having babies

A generation where posting photos of yourself smoking weed was acceptable

where wearing tight clothes that barley covered anything was the only way to be sexy

A generation where no one cares that polar bears are becoming extinct

My fellow college students struggling because government has cut education funds once more

Mother nature punishing us with her mighty powers of earth quakes, tornado's, tsunami's

People of our nation hoping our president fails

I saw a generation where parents showed affection to their children through electronics

Many cultures losing there traditions because the need of being more American was more important

Hispanics not knowing their native language and being ashamed of where their parents came from

I saw the greed in people the day after we gave thanks to the lord for what we do have

Sex becoming experienced by 13 year olds

children becoming obese because McDonald's is considered dinner

I saw a generation where I pads became books

The need for woman to have fake breast grew

We are losing everything that makes us and the world beautiful..We are losing ourselves in materialistic objects that can't be taken to our death instead of fixing issues with our loved ones.. We mustn't be so clueless and realize it's our job to make this a better world for the ones who will rule after us..

Sestina

Life is beginng to be so Tropical
what better than to see the ocean and shoreline kissing
never have I breathed air so crisp
the remarkable feeling of your taste buds bouncing
looking like a goddess
what about this sun shining so bright

wearing colors oh so bright
Never have I had fruit taste so Tropical
I can help but to continue bouncing
tortillas tasting crisp
thinking about you and me kissing
how I feel like your goddess

Everyone woman looking like a goddess
my eyes set sight on somthing bright
this place becoming more and moreTropical
all the children dancing and bouncing
July is feeling so crisp
all the couples kissing

Husband and wife kissing
god and goddess
my yellow dress shining bright
rain forests so Tropical
raindrops dripping from leaf to leaf just bouncing
green salad tasting crisp

My white wine very crisp
as my lips and glass begin kissing
not fruity must definetley Tropical
diamonds on my ears shine bright
yes I am a goddess
life is just bouncing

Happiness creating non-stop bouncing
This taste is crisp
and so is the kissing
You too are a goddess
stars are beginng to shine bright
wanting more of this feeling of being Tropical

Fruit tasting moreTropical taste buds bouncing
you and me kissing how this air is crisp
Im a goddess and will continue to shine bright

Ode to my toothbrush

Ode to my toothbrush

ohh sweet soft toothbrush
how you make me feel so clean
with every breath I take
I can feel the mint subside my mouth
making me feel oh so proud

ohh sweet toothbrush
how I love you so much
always cleaning out all my germs
I know you're the one I can always trust

ohh sweet toothbrush
never leave me with a smelly breath
because only then I'll know the feeling of death

Literary Litany

You are the heart and the start of a new beggining,
the window and the breeze.
You are the sweet breath of a tender life
and the kiss of love, worth a million words
You are the dream, and the future.

However, you are not the nightmare,
or the cry of pain.
And you are certainly not a mistake.
There is just no way that you are mistake.

It is possible that you are all mine
maybe even the sushine,
but you are not even close
to being like most.

And a quick look in the mirror will show
that you are neither a crime
nor a useless man

It might interest you to know,
speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
that I have fallen irrevocably in love with you.

I also happen to be all yours and your biggest prize,
and the woman that will keep our lives full of suprise and never lies.

I am also the support to your life
and the one who cant be without you.
But don't worry, I'm not the knife and certainly not the blade
You are still the man I want to stay and the one I could never trade.
You will always be the start and the endings to my days,
not to mention the stars and--somehow--the rising sun .
